These are my Prospect One top 10 prospects for the Cleveland Indians organization. You can find all teams organizational ranks, which go beyond the top 10, plus my top 500 prospect ranks which are updated monthly when you join up at the ITL ARMY. Find the link below.

Check out the AL Central Top 10 Team Prospects podcast when Scott Bogman interviews me on my thoughts on these players plus a look beyond the top 10 for some teams.

1) Triston McKenzie SP

McKenzie IS and HAS been one of the best strikeout pitchers in the minors over the last few years. Concerns over his skinny body (6’5 165) have concerned some, but all he’s done is shut people up. He has plus control that works well with his FB, Curve and Changeup mix that he’s able to put some movement on as well. McKenzie is one of the premier pitchers in the minors, and sits inside my top 10 SP overall. I don’t know if I’d call myself aggressive in owning him, but I have mentioned that if I am going to be aggressive in drafting early pitching, it would be the top 10.

2) Francisco Mejia C/INF

Mejia is really interesting to watch in person. I knew he was smaller, but was taken back a bit how small he seemed in person. Someone like Luis Urias with the Padres who is listed as shorter, is much “thicker” and almost seems twice his size. The size doesn’t take away from the fact that he can hit. He has a quick hands and some aggression to his swing that generates a lot of contact. The swing itself generates pop, so he’ll have some power. My main problem with Mejia for Fantasy is a couple things. He doesn’t run much, and I don’t believe he’ll hit for significant power (could be wrong) which I think going to limit his counting stats. He is probably at best a two-hole hitter. In the AFL he played 3B exclusively. It wasn’t great, but no catching. If he was a catcher, he’s more attractive. I worry he could be a super utility guy, but maybe at best he’s a 3B or 2B. Regardless, I just don’t know if his stats will meet general requirements for most fantasy owners. I don’t dislike owning him, but I am a bit tempered with it.

3) Bobby Bradley 1B

Bradley spent time out in the AFL this year after what some believe was a successful year. He hit .250 with 23 HR’s and an impressive walk rate that gave him a .330 OBP. In the fall league, Bradley wasn’t doing to much pressing. He seemed to be there to get reps, and get out. I saw a lot of the big looping hack swing that has been a problem for him. That’s really my biggest issue when I break it down. I worry, like many 1B in the majors, that he’ll be battling nice counting stats (outside of SB) with a trash AVG. That doesn’t mean he isn’t worth owning, it just means if the AVG is a big problem, it may take awhile for him to be relevant (almost think of an AJ Reed). I was encouraged by the shape that he was in, as it seemed to be the best in a few years. Top 100 guy.

4) Greg Allen OF

Allen’s 2017 was a step back from 2016, but still a move in the right direction. I saw Allen in the ‘16 AFL where he really stood out and jumped on my radar. I covered him as a player I really liked. 2017 he suffered from some early injures. I actually caught him in the AZL where he looked ok, but not the same guy I saw in the AFL. I would say he looked like he packed on some more muscle though. His season as a whole saw the AVG and power dip, but the speed stayed on course. All of this led to a short run in the majors. Allen’s “buzz” faded a little bit. He might be falling into a post hype sleeper, who is turning 25 in March. After the top 100 is a time you can start considering him.

5) Nolan Jones 3B

Jones, along with Valera are probably the two prospects I’m most excited about for this coming year. He spent ‘16 in the AZL, and last year with short-season A-ball. This will be his first full season of pro ball, and I think the spot where he jumps on a lot of radars. Jones is a big 6’4 3B who saw great success last year hitting .317 with a .430 OBP in A-ball. I wouldn’t be surprised if from a ranking perspective, Jones was top 10 in my biggest risers throughout this coming year. Raw power, contact and plate awareness are all I need to hear to consider him inside the top 150.

6)George Valera OF

7) Will Benson OF

8) Oscar Gonzalez OF

9) Shane Bieber SP

10) Yu-Cheng Chang SS
