1) Brent Honeywell SP

Honeywell is in the argument as one of the top five starting pitchers in the minors. The thing that everyone starts with of course, is the screwball. That isn’t where it stops though as he has a plus FB, cutter and a solid change and curve. As you can see is he has an arsenal. I was able to catch him the fall-stars game in 2016 up against Michael Kopech. It was incredible seeing the control he displayed with the offerings. He threw the screwball a few times, and it for sure is going to give hitters a fit. One intangible thing I like about Honeywell, is he’s got some intensity to himself, or some “edge.” Consider Honeywell in second to third round if you can get down with early pitching.

2) Jesus Sanchez OF

I’ve made it known that I believe Sanchez is one of the most underrated prospects in anyone’s top 100. Sanchez has a repeatable smooth swing. He hasn’t hit for under .300 at any pro level since his debut in 2015. His HR total has almost or did double from ‘15 to ‘17. He is a natural hitter who could move to a middle of the order, and become more valuable as his power continues to develop. He is limited in speed, but I’ve likened him to a Marcell Ozuna when talking comps. Many have him outside their top 50, but he is inside my top 30.

3) Willy Adames SS

Adames actually reminds me a lot of Jesus Sanchez in that he is consistent, not well hyped and may not be the highest ceiling player, but represents a high floor. He’s got quick hands and good hitting instincts. Less power than Sanchez, but greater speed. He’s got a good 5-tool base for the outfield position, it’s just a matter of how significant it’s going to be. His AVG might be an issue as he struck out 132 times in just over 500 AB’s last year. Due to his developing power and consistent returns, he’s jumped a head of the likes of JP Crawford and others.

4) Brendan McKay SP/1B

I have a really hard time with McKay. I like him more as a power hitting 1B. He’s got 25+ power with a nice swing, but struggled a bit in his pro debut for hitting. As a pitcher, I don’t love the upside, but it is the most likely place he ends up full time, and his first pro stint was really good. I think he’s a league SP3 or SP4 when it’s all said and done, but will eat crow when he’s an ace. The million dollar question, is will the Rays allow him to continue playing both spots, and be the next two way player like Ohtani? I don’t have that answer, but the value should be built in.

5) Wander Franco SS

Franco is very far away. Know that when drafting. His skills though, are what make him such an intriguing prospect. He makes hard contact with really quick bat speed. He actually reminds me of Hanley Ramirez in approach and swing (older Hanley, not now Hanley). There looks to be double digit speed in there as well. The main thing is there is so much unknown right now. Will he stick at SS? He might move to 2B. How will the power translate as he goes through his first pro stint which will be this year? All things we have to wait on, but you have to pay now, or the price will jump. Franco is a top 100 player for me.

6) Jake Bauers 1B

7) Justin Williams OF

8) Jose De Leon SP

9) Garrett Whitley OF

10) Christian Arroyo 3B
